A product that never should have been marketed Jul 14, 2007
By Mark E. Henze
"common sense"
I need to learn to check these reviews before purchasing. I thought I would get a simple pump that squeezed paint as I rolled. What I got was a 4 "C" Battery motor that was unable to properly pump paint to the roller (Duh ... 4 "C" Batteries... What was I thinking.) After setting it up, the thing churned and hummed for nearly 30 minutes before paint even reached the roller through the tube. When it did, it didn't have the power to keep a constant stream of paint going. In nearly 4 hours of struggling with the thing, I never got a full roller of paint. I gave up with a patch of uneven paint on the wall. I will take it back... But I'm confused ... How does Wagner stay in business putting out products like this? Doesn't a true capitalist system result in our refusal to purchase their products any more? Is America willing to put out any piece of defective merchandise hoping that people will buy it and not bother returning it? Surely they know how poorly this product performs ... I think I'll use it as an example in my business ethics class.

Complaints must stem from user error! Dec 11, 2007

I just purchased another one because I let me friend use it to paint his new house. He loved it so much he offered to buy my used one for $30. I loved my last one so much, I was hard pressed to see it go. But now that I see it here for $40, I am a very happy camper.
I just bought a new house and I had to repaint almost all of the interior. This included a family room (20'x25'), a living room (18x'22', a bedroom (15'x16'), a dining room (14'x 13') and a bathroom (10'x 8'). I did it all in one day. Seriously. I started at 9 AM and finished at a bit after 2PM. I had about 25 minutes of cleanup afterward, all told, and every wall was done with only the trim work to be touched up.
The only issue I had with the paint priming took place when the inner hose got a slight kink in it and I didn't realize it. It took about 20 minutes of me getting angry before I actually saw the issue was MY FAULT.
I cannot fathom why anyone could give this tool a negative review. It was so fast and easy, I'll never go back to the old way again. The only thing I could suspect might be faster would be a modified paint sprayer for my air compressor. You can ignore the complaints and pleas not to buy it. This is my second one. It works just fine. Just make sure you follow the instructions and be careful with the tubing. It needs to sometimes becomes detatched from the handle and can kink. Even with the slight mishaps, I will take 5 hours of mess-free painting over 2 days of "splatter-fest" painting any time!
I won't tell you to buy it or not. Only you can make that choice, but I love it!

You can easily paint twice as fast with this product Aug 16, 2007
By D. OBrien I used the Roll N Go to paint my two-story great room. I was so satisfied with the effectiveness of this product that I could have thrown it away when I was done and felt like I got more than my money's worth.
The main time savings come from not needing to reload your roller from the tray. You can basically paint as fast as you can move your arms. If you are doing a normal sized bedroom, most of your time would be spent trimming.
I had to use a 12-foot scaffolding to paint this large room. It is vastly easier to haul the paint can with the pump attached up the scaffolding than to worry about moving a tray full of paint. I have vaulted ceilings that required me to adjust the height of scaffolding every couple of feet. Being battery-operated, I didn't have to worry about extension cords.
I'm surprised about the bad reviews on the site. I went through 4 or 5 gallons of paint on one set of batteries (I used brand new Energizers). It should only take a couple of minutes to prime the roller. If you're looking at anything past 10, then your product is faulty.
I did have some paint leak from the pump. I left paint in the machine overnight and continued painting the next day. The pump is very simple and is designed to be cleaned or easily replaced. I consider the leak my fault for not doing proper maintenance. Cleaning does take 15-30 minutes. They do sell a replacement kit that comes with a pump and hose.
I also bought the next model up for my next painting project (980 Power Roller). The 980 pumps faster, has an extension handle, and has a place to hook in your garden hose for cleaning. I do miss the cordless nature of the Roll N Go. It would be great if they made a model up from this that runs on 6 or 8 D cells with a more powerful pump.
Overall I think this is a great product.

Not a reliable product Jan 05, 2008
By S. Schauble Terrible product and doesn't save any time. Like other reviewers said, it took 30 minutes for the paint to reach the roller. I was using Behr paint in an eggshell sheen. Then, it was very slow and couldn't keep the roller saturated. I would have to wait for it to re-saturate the roller every few minutes. After a wall and a half, I gave up, tried to start the cleanup process (which was messy and further time-consuming) the pump burned up and died. No, it's not user error like another reviewer suggested. I read the instructions thoroughly, and followed them step-by-step, there's nothing complicated about it. I've never had any item I purchased fail so miserably as this one. It could be a great product if it pumped much faster, but really you only need a power roller if you are doing several rooms in the same color. It doesn't take long to paint one room without mechanical assistance. I lost paint, lost time, and lost gas driving this POS back to the store where I bought it. Incredibly frustrating. Do not buy this product.

I liked it! Jul 28, 2007
By Kimber L. Jungwirth Interesting how the reviews are "all or nothing." I found the Roll n Go easy to use and it took perhaps 5 minutes for the roller to saturate. When the roller was saturated to the point of "too much" I was able to simply push the button and turn the pump off and keep rolling until the roller needed paint again. Granted, I purchased a "reconditioned" unit so I'm sure it was tested thoroughly before it left the plant. Clean-up wasn't much more difficult than cleaning a regular roller so long as you follow the directions. Keep in mind, though, when they say do not submerge the handle in water they mean it. I had to replace the handle assembly because I ignored the warnings (who needs to read the stinkin' directions?)
Overall, it made my life easier and I would buy it again.
